The Salisbury Public Library is pleased to announce that it has new passes available for borrowers.
New passes include the New Hampshire Children's Museum and Zoo New England, which includes Stone and Franklin Park Zoos.
Other passes available for this summer include the Boston Children’s Museum, the Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Peabody Essex Museum. The Boston Aquarium is available through June.
It’s not too early to reserve passes for school vacation. To reserve a pass or for more information, please call the library's front desk at 978-465-5071.
Salisbury Public Library Membership Information
Salisbury residents may apply for a library card upon presentation of proof of address. A current drivers license is preferred but a photo idea with two other forms of proof of residence (rental lease, utility bill, a piece of postmarked mail and or a checkbook with new address) is acceptable.
A parent or guardian must fill out and sign applications for any children under the age of 14.
Local Checkout Periods
Most library materials may be checked out for three weeks. DVDs and videos are checked out for one week. Items with no waiting lists may be renewed by phone or online via the MVLC website.
MVLC Member Benefits
The Salisbury Public Library is a member of a network of public libraries service 35 communities throughout the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts called the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). Nearly 3 million items are quickly available to you through MVLC and just having a Salisbury Public Library card.
Once you have a Salisbury Public Library card you can use it at any library in the consortium! Use it to request books and to access your patron account online. You can also use your library card to access online reference databases (which you can find links to on our Library Online page).
Library card holders can also use their card to check out and download audio books to listen to on their own personal devices.
Looking for the latest DVD or video release? Want to read the new best-seller all of your friends are raving about? If our library doesn't have it you can get the item from any other library in the consortium, often in 48 hours or less. If necessary member libraries can even request items for you from libraries all over the country.
Hoping to learn a foreign language or need to Massachusetts newspapers? You can do it all for free online thanks to our MVLC membership.
You can also visit the MVLC libraries to use their up to date reference collections. Be sure to call your local library with any questions you may have. From foreign exchange rates to email addresses of you local legislators, our reference librarians are eager to assist you. In addition, you can access a variety of online databases through the MVLC website 24-hours a day from any Internet connected device.
Library Elf via MVLC
Library Elf is a free service available to all MVLC users. Let the Library Elf help you manage your MVLC library loans and holds. The free Elf service keeps track of all your checked-out material and sends you email and or text message reminders before they are due. Library Elf works with RSS readers as well. MVLC Circulation Policies
Each member library is an independent entity and regulations, fines and charges with vary from library to library. However, MVLC members do have some policies in common:
- Residents of MVLC communities must have a library card from their hometown library. Your MVLC card may be used at any public library in the consortium.
- You are responsible for all materials borrowed on you card.
- Most materials may be returned to any MVLC library.
- Replacement costs will be charged for lost or damaged materials.
- Fines and replacement costs may be paid at any MVLC library.
- Borrowing privileges will be suspended if materials are not returned or if overdue fines are not paid.
- Also, for your own protection, please remember that if you change your name or address or if your card is lost or stolen to please report it to the library immediately.
