Merrimack Valley Library Consortium Member Benefits
The Salisbury Public Library is a member of a network of public libraries service 36 communities throughout the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts called the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). Nearly 3 million items are quickly available to you through MVLC and just having a Salisbury Public Library card.
Once you have a Salisbury Public Library card you can use it at any library in the consortium! Use it to request books and to access your patron account online. You can also use your library card to access online reference databases (which you can find links to on our Library Online page).
Library card holders can also use their card to check out and download audio books to listen to on their own personal devices.
Looking for the latest DVD or video release? Want to read the new best-seller all of your friends are raving about? If our library doesn't have it you can get the item from any other library in the consortium, often in 48 hours or less. If necessary member libraries can even request items for you from libraries all over the country.
Hoping to learn a foreign language or need to get access to Massachusetts newspapers? You can do it all for free online thanks to our MVLC membership.

Each member library is an independent entity and regulations, fines and charges with vary from library to library. However, MVLC members do have some policies in common:

MVLC Circulation Policies
Each member library is an independent entity and regulations, fines and charges with vary from library to library. However, MVLC members do have some policies in common:
- Residents of MVLC communities must have a library card from their hometown library. Your MVLC card may be used at any public library in the consortium.
- You are responsible for all materials borrowed on you card.
- Most materials may be returned to any MVLC library.
- Replacement costs will be charged for lost or damaged materials.
- Fines and replacement costs may be paid at any MVLC library.
- Borrowing privileges will be suspended if materials are not returned or if overdue fines are not paid. Also, for your own protection, please remember that if you change your name or address or if your card is lost or stolen to please report it to the library immediately.
